Today’s competition brought together finalists from ten countries who pitched their digital ‘mini companies’ for the Digital Innovation Award, organised by BNY Mellon and JA Europe.
More than 4000 young students from Europe (Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the UK) and the Middle East (UAE) participated, supported by just under 250 BNY Mellon volunteers.
Five JA alumnæ are in the run for AmCham's EU Youth Entrepreneurship Award (YEA) 2020. They have been selected amongst 19 candidates across Europe who have participated in a JA programme, made it past the initial start-up phase and have a business concept with strong growth potential.
Students from France, Germany, Hungary and UK pitched their innovative solutions to reduce waste and the depletion of natural resources in an online competition organised by JA Europe and Arconic Foundation.
The judging criteria included problem solving and innovation in the area of recycling and reusing of materials, defining the type and size of the intended market and a high-quality prototype of the recycled or reused final product.
Today at the first ever virtual Sci-Tech Challenge, a number of innovative solutions were presented to showcase the use of STEM skills in solving a real-life challenge. Two teams of students, from Belgium and Romania, showcased their solution for an energy-efficient and low-emission mobility system for the city winning bid of the 2040 Olympic Games. An audience including Dr. Walter Goetz, Head of Cabinet of European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean; Philippe Ducom, President ExxonMobil Europe; Karel Lannoo, Chief Executive of CEPS; as well as students and teachers from across Europe discussed how to upscale STEM education and make it more attractive to young people.
To ensure that children can #KeepLearning, Junior Achievement has joined UNESCO's Global Education Coalition to support countries affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
