JA Europe appoints six new members of the Board

On 25 November 2021, JA Europe’s Annual General Assembly formally approved the following new Board Members: Riccardo Barberis, President of ManpowerGroup Northern Europe; Mike Feerick, Founder and CEO of Alison; Jānis Krievāns, CEO JA Latvia and Chair of JA Europe Board of Executives; Olivier Lazar, Vice President Strategic Alliances, Project Management Institute; Lieve Mostrey, CEO Euroclear; and Kees Roks, Head of the European Oncology Business, Novartis.

Riccardo Barberis

President of ManpowerGroup Northern Europe

Riccardo Barberis was appointed Regional President, Northern Europe in May 2021. In this role, Barberis oversees all of ManpowerGroup's brands and offerings across the region – Manpower, Experis and Talent Solutions. Barberis will lay the path to further accelerate ManpowerGroup’s diversification, digitization and innovation plans, creating even more value for clients and candidates and strengthening our performance in the region.

Barberis joined ManpowerGroup in 1998 and has held numerous leadership positions in Europe and Latin America, most recently as country manager for ManpowerGroup Italy. With 25 years of experience including many international roles his deep industry knowledge and passion for a client-first, candidate-centric approach consistently delivers superior results.

Barberis holds an Executive MBA at Bocconi University (Milan), has accomplished management programs at INSEAD and speaks five languages. From November 25th 2021, he serves as Junior Achievement Europe Board member. He was also Vice President of the Italian Industry Association, Assolavoro  , and President of ManpowerGroup's Human Age Institute. Barberis currently  lives with his wife and three children in Milan.

Mike Feerick

Founder and CEO of Alison

Based in Galway, Ireland, Mike Feerick is the CEO & Founder of Alison, one of the world’s largest free online learning platforms with 22 million members worldwide. He is a highly experienced web services entrepreneur involved as a Founder CEO/MD of multiple web-based services in finance, telecoms and online education and skills training.

He is an internationally recognised social entrepreneur receiving a Diploma Award from UNESCO for innovation in education (2010), an Ashoka Fellowship (2011), and a Guinness Social Fund Award (2012). In 2013, Alison was a WISE Award winner (Qatar Foundation). He was a World Economic Forum Social Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist 2016. Through his leadership, Alison was awarded the EU Civil Solidarity Award in Feb 2020 for its efforts in educating the world about COVID. Mike is also the founder/CEO (2009) of the Irish Government funded Ireland Reaching Out Diaspora Programme which seeks to unify all persons of Irish heritage worldwide online.

Mike holds degrees from the University of Limerick, Ireland, (BBS 89) and Harvard University (MBA 94). He is an avid sports fan enjoying soccer, and the Irish sport of Hurling, hiking, music and reading. He leads a number of other local and international community-focused initiatives.

Jānis Krievāns

CEO JA Latvia, Chair of JA Europe Board of Executives

Janis is CEO of Junior Achievement Latvia since 2012. In High School, he founded a JA student Company, WoodenMaker, which achieved the 1st place award in a national competition and participated in the JA Europe Company Competition of the Year in Berlin in 2008. Janis studied business management at the University of Latvia and started working in Junior Achievement Latvia right after graduation, first as a volunteer, then as a project manager and later as an international project manager. Since 2018 he has been Advisory Committee member at Turība University, the largest private university in the Baltics. In 2019 Janis was Subject Matter Expert (SME) for "Education & Employment" in Latvia's National Development Plan 2027 and co-founder of Camping Milk company, a hospitality business with 10 cabins. Since 2020 Janis is also SAB Usma chair of the board.

Olivier Lazar

Vice President Strategic Alliances, Project Management Institute

A citizen of the world, form Polish origins, born in France, living in the USA after years spend abroad, Olivier Lazar is Vice President for Strategic Alliances, at the Project Management Institute (PMI) since 2020. As such he’s in charge of developing the impact of PMI as an enabler for Change Makers and making PMI the channel through which they will build a better world, making our and their dreams a reality. Before joining PMI, he had a long history of organizational executive leadership as well as consultancy and coaching in various industries, for multiple organizations.

Olivier’s leitmotiv lies in his conviction that sharing Knowledge is a major factor for global performance and common development, organizational and personal.

Lieve Mostrey

CEO, Euroclear

Lieve Mostrey became Chief Executive Officer and Chairperson of the Euroclear Group Management Committee in January 2017 after joining Euroclear in October 2010 as Executive Director and Chief Technology and Services Officer of the Euroclear Group and an Executive Director of the Board.

Ms. Mostrey is also member of the Supervisory Board and of the Nomination & Governance Committee and Chairperson of the Remuneration Committee of Euronext.

Previously, Ms. Mostrey was a member of the Executive Committee of BNP Paribas Fortis in Brussels, where she was responsible for IT technology, operations (including securities, payments, credit cards, mortgages, clients and accounts), property and purchasing. Ms. Mostrey began her career in 1983 within the IT department of Generale Bank in Brussels, moving to Operations in 1997 and, upon its merger with Fortis in 2006, became country manager for Fortis Bank Belgium. She became Chief Operating Officer of Fortis Bank in 2008, which was acquired by BNP Paribas in 2009.

Ms. Mostrey was previously a Non-Executive Director of SWIFT, Visa Europe, RealDolmen and of Euroclear.

Having earned a degree in civil engineering from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 1983, Ms. Mostrey completed a post-graduate degree in economics from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 1988.

Kees Roks

Head of the European Oncology Business, Novartis

Kees Roks is the Head of the European Oncology Business at Novartis.

Since November 2018 he is responsible for leading over 2000 dedicated associates in 51 countries on the journey to reimagine medicines.

His Novartis career started in 1985 in the Netherlands. Since then, he has held various roles of increasing responsibility in several international markets and cultures from Europe to Latin America and Asia.

Each move has given him a greater perspective on why innovation, access, affordability, and accessibility to care are now more critical than ever. Exposure to different cultures enhanced his inclusive leadership style and his passion for mentoring and coaching.

Beyond his professional career, he is a member of the EFPIA Patient Access Committee.  He is part of the Assembly of the EU Cancer Mission and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Open Research Europe initiative, both for the European Commission.

Kees studied Medical Microbiology and holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Eindhoven, Netherlands.
