EU Code Week 2024 Launch Event

EU Code Week is back, and this year’s launch event is set to inspire and activate digital enthusiasts across Europe! Organised by the Code4Europe consortium, the online launch event is scheduled for 11 October 2024 from 14:30 to 16:00 CET, the event will officially kick off two exciting weeks of coding activities happening across the continent from 14 to 27 October 2024.

What to Expect:

The launch event will showcase the ongoing efforts of the EU Code Week initiative, which aims to inspire children, young people, teachers, parents, and companies to explore the digital world. With a mission to promote digital skills and careers in technology, the event will connect the Code Week community from all over Europe.

Event Highlights:

  • Keynote on Youth and Digital Learning Opportunities: Salvatore Nigro, CEO of JA Europe, will discuss the importance of digital skills for young Europeans and how initiatives like EU Code Week contribute to their growth.
  • Insight on the Relevance of EU Code Week in 2024: Yvo Volman, Director of the Data Directorate at DG CONNECT, will explore why EU Code Week continues to be a crucial platform for digital empowerment and learning.
  • “Code with Minecraft”: In a dedicated segment, learn how Minecraft is transforming digital education. This session will demonstrate how teachers can use Minecraft to make lessons more engaging while enhancing children’s coding skills.
  • Careers in Digital Panel: A live panel featuring Anna Di Silverio (Avanade), Stéphane du Boispéan (Intel), Avanti Sharma (Workshop4Me), and Laurent Touché (Code Week Ambassador) will dive into the diverse landscape of digital careers. The discussion will focus on trends, essential skills, and the role of diversity in fostering innovation.
  • Girls and Women in Digital: A special session led by Angela Jafarova, Code Week Ambassador to Latvia, will feature inspiring stories of women in tech, encouraging more girls and women to pursue careers in the digital sector.
  • Sneak Peek at the EU Code Week 2024 Hackathon: Dea Kralj from All-Digital will offer a preview of this year’s Hackathon, set to be a highlight of the upcoming activities.
