JA Europe’s impact unveiled: Annual Report 2023-2024

26 November 2024 Brussels, Belgium, JA Europe has released its 2023-2024 Annual Report, showcasing a year of remarkable achievements and initiatives that have significantly impacted youth across Europe. The report highlights key results, strategic priorities, and the organisation’s ongoing commitment to empowering the next generation through education and entrepreneurship.

This year, JA Europe reached a new milestone close to 7 million learning experiences delivered, marking a 20% increase from the previous year. This unprecedented growth reflects the organisation’s dedication to providing quality education and opportunities for young people, particularly in underserved communities. The organisation provided 95,581 teaching experiences and 86,533 volunteering and mentoring experiences, contributing to a total of 76,651,855 contact hours.

Strategic Initiatives

JA Europe’s strategic priorities focus on four main areas: accelerating digital and AI integration, empowering underserved youth, cultivating partnerships, and strengthening the OneJA network. These initiatives are designed to ensure that young Europeans are equipped with the skills needed to navigate a rapidly changing world.

  1. Accelerating Digital and AI: The organisation has embraced digital transformation, blending AI with entrepreneurship education. Notably, the AI and entrepreneurship programme, recognised by the World Economic Forum, has been expanded to seven additional countries, enhancing students’ understanding of AI’s ethical and societal impacts.
  2. Empowering the Underserved: Through partnerships with organisations like UniCredit Foundation, JA Europe has launched initiatives such as “Re-power Your Future,” aimed at preventing school dropout and empowering vulnerable youth across ten European countries.
  3. Cultivating Partnerships: JA Europe has strengthened its network by collaborating with various stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, and corporations. These partnerships have been crucial in developing and delivering impactful learning experiences.
  4. Strengthen OneJA: The rebranding efforts have unified the JA network across Europe, enhancing recognition and trust. The new branding aligns with JA’s mission to inspire and prepare young people for success.

Notable programmes and achievements

  • Economic Opportunities for All (EOfA): Supported by NN Group, this initiative focuses on providing skills and opportunities for underserved youth to transition from education to employment or entrepreneurship. The programme has expanded to include Türkiye and Hungary, addressing the needs of youth affected by natural disasters and marginalised groups.
  • Supporting Ukrainian refugees: The UPLIFT Youth initiative, in collaboration with UNICEF, has empowered over 351,000 young Ukrainian refugees through digital and in-person educational activities, helping them rebuild their futures in new communities.
  • Gen-E 2024: Europe’s Largest Entrepreneurship Festival, held in Catania, Italy, celebrated Europe’s best young entrepreneurs. The festival featured innovative projects and business ideas, connecting young talent with potential employers and investors.

As Laurence Morvan, Chair of JA Europe and Salvatore Nigro, CEO of JA Europe highlighted in their letter “In a world of rapid transformation, JA’s network in Europe is pivoting to embrace a new era of skills, with a big focus on digital and sustainability to ensure the next generation is skilled to solve the biggest challenges of our times. Both in our learning content and ways of working, our focus is to leverage digital transformation to scale learning opportunities, in particular to underserved youth.”

As JA Europe moves forward, its focus remains on achieving the ambitious goal of serving 20 million young Europeans annually by 2050.
