ClimaGen (Climate-resilient reGeneration and renaturing for, by and with vulnerable neighbourhoods, striving towards net-zero) is a Horizon Europe Innovation Action that brings together municipalities, research institutions, civil-society organisations, and youth networks to co-create greener and more inclusive European cities. Across five demonstration cities — Belgrade, Gdańsk, Tartu, Torino, and Trondheim — and four replication cities — Cluj-Napoca, Eindhoven, Gernika, and Thessaloniki — the project promotes nature-based solutions, participatory design, and social innovation to strengthen local resilience and improve urban well-being.
Within this initiative, JA Europe and its member organisations engage young people as active contributors to the transition towards climate-neutral and nature-positive cities. Through entrepreneurship programmes, students learn to design business ideas addressing local climate challenges and initiate youth-led start-ups that foster sustainability and inclusion. By building cross-sector partnerships between schools, municipalities, and businesses, JA Europe helps establish vibrant innovation ecosystems that empower the next generation to reimagine and regenerate their cities.
