Business Developer at Carrot & Co-Founder of Lett på Kroken
Mari is passionate about creating solutions that pull the world in a more sustainable direction, focusing on solving the world’s 2 billion tonne waste problem. Through the Norwegian JA youth entrepreneurship programme, she became an entrepreneur at the age of 16, starting up the company “Lett på Kroken” that solves challenges related to the process of plastic collection. Nine years later, she is still running the company that has sold over 150,000 products to waste management companies in Scandinavia.
With a burning commitment to create a world of circular materials, she was employed as a business developer in the WasteTech company “Carrot” during her studies at the Norwegian School of Economics. Carrot gathers data about waste – what is thrown away, the amount and by whom, and uses the information to incentivize and motivate both companies and individuals to improve their sorting behaviour and reduce their amount of waste.
Mari has actively used her voice through social media, podcast shows and on stage at big conferences – to inspire companies and individuals to contribute in solving the world’s climate issues. In 2021, the Norwegian business newspaper, Dagens Næringsliv, named her one of 30 guiding stars under the age of 30, who will make the world a more sustainable place through good ideas, the power of action or leadership qualities.
