Natalia Konova is a medical doctor specializing in the field of Endocrinology and a PhD candidate in Clinical pharmacology in Medical University Sofia, Bulgaria. She is a co-founder and CEO of AMIRA MEDITECH LTD, a startup in the field of digital healthcare with the mission to preserve effectiveness of antibiotics and to fight antimicrobial resistance, which is a global rising treat, predicted to kill at least 10 million people per year in 2050 and which costs the EU 1.5 billion euro every year today. The AMIRA software allows hospitals to digitalise their local antibiotic stewardship policies and gives doctors personalised advice for treatment of infections based on local antibiotic resistance levels and the personal characteristics of the patient. AMIRA has multiple tools to monitor antibiotic usage in hospitals and countries and can give important data to institutions. AMIRA won AmCham award for project of the year for 2023 and several Intel awards for AI ML potential and is actively trying to integrate artificial intelligence technologies to fight AMR even better. Even before the MVP was finished it was purchased by one of the biggest hospitals in Bulgaria, with several other hospitals being on the verge of signing the preliminary contracts.
