Code4Europe Project Lead

Position overview: The Project Lead for Code 4Europe will oversee the successful execution of this initiative, managing stakeholder relationships, ensuring project milestones and deliverables are met, and coordinating a consortium of 40+ partners. This role includes project planning, risk management, reporting, and fostering collaboration to advance digital education across Europe.

Available Budget: Annually between 45,000 – 52,000 Euros based on experience

About EU Code Week and Code4Europe

The EU Code Week is an international grassroots movement celebrating creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration through programming and tech activities. Supported by the European Commission, EU Code Week encourages participation from everyone, especially schools. It aims to demystify coding and motivate people of all abilities to learn. 

The Code4Europe Consortium led by JA Europe is a collaboration of over 40 educational and digital industry stakeholders from 20 European countries, dedicated to empowering the next generation of young, digitally savvy Europeans. Our mission is to enhance and expand digital education across Europe, ensuring that EU Code Week continues to inspire and engage.  The Consortium is committed to introducing new initiatives to enhance the reach and visibility of this crucial European initiative. From Coding with Minecraft to inspiring digital careers, we’re driving impactful initiatives. A unique aspect we introduced is a dedicated and dynamic network of National and Regional Hubs for the promotion and dissemination of information about EU Code Week to support scale-up the level of activity and participation in each country.

Job Summary

As the Project Lead for Code 4Europe, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the project’s success by overseeing all aspects of its execution. Acting as the primary contact for over 40 partners, you will manage stakeholder relationships and communication. Your responsibilities include keeping the project on track, ensuring milestones, KPIs, and deliverables are met while supporting Work Package and Task Leaders. You will handle project management, draft and submit reports, and proactively address potential risks. Additionally, you will coordinate meetings, manage project documentation, and foster strong collaboration within the consortium.   

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Be the face of the project: As autonomous project manager you are the main responsible  for all stakeholders (40+ partners), all deliverables, Key Performance Indicators of the project.
  • Keep things on track and guide the team: Oversee,  the work plan, milestones, KPIs and  deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time. Support Work Package and Task Leaders in delivering and adjusting when needed the project outputs and manage budgets.
  • Deliver the goods: Draft and submit project reports, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Stay ahead of the curve: Identify potential risks and proactively address them.
  • Build strong relationships: Coordinate with stakeholders and maintain open and assertive communication with the consortium partners
  • Stay organised: Schedule and facilitate meetings, capture notes, and manage project documentation

Qualifications and Requirements

  • You have minimum 10 years of experience in managing complex projects, with several interconnected deliverables, milestones and partners/contributors.
  • You are experienced in the management, implementation and reporting of public funded projects (e.g. Erasmus+, Horizon, Creative Europe, USAID, UNICEF, GIZ, …).
  • You are experienced in leading large consortia with 30+ partners and managing over 6M EUR budget
  • You have strong organisational and time management skills.
  • You are an agile thinker with the ability to coordinate information and processes involving multiple people/teams.
  • You can manage a complex workload and are comfortable multi-tasking.
  • You are an independent problem solver and take initiative.
  • You have good interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and can work collaboratively with staff at all levels within the organisation.
  • You listen to others and are able to guide team members.
  • You have a passion for working with people from all walks of life, with cultural sensitivity and understanding.
  • You are experienced in running in-person, online and hybrid project meetings and are willing to travel in Europe.
  • You have a common-sense approach, with a positive attitude and the ability to adapt to an evolving professional environment.
  • You have excellent English skills, both written and verbal.
  • You pay attention to detail in written work and are able to create informative decks and summaries for different audiences and purposes.
  • You are able to present information clearly both in written form and in front of an audience, and you are comfortable with public speaking.
  • A University degree;
  • You have experience using MS Office packages, Project Management tools
