About EU Code Week and Code4Europe
The EU Code Week is an international grassroots movement celebrating creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration through programming and tech activities. Supported by the European Commission, EU Code Week encourages participation from everyone, especially schools. It aims to demystify coding and motivate people of all abilities to learn.
The Code4Europe Consortium led by JA Europe is a collaboration of over 40 educational and digital industry stakeholders from 20 European countries, dedicated to empowering the next generation of young, digitally-savvy Europeans. Our mission is to enhance and expand digital education across Europe, ensuring that EU Code Week continues to inspire and engage. The Consortium is committed to introducing new initiatives to enhance the reach and visibility of this crucial European initiative. From Coding with Minecraft to inspiring digital careers, we’re driving impactful initiatives. A unique aspect we introduced is a dedicated and dynamic network of National and Regional Hubs for the promotion and dissemination of information about EU Code Week to support scale-up the level of activity and participation in each country.
Job Summary
The Network Engagement Manager/EU Code Week will play a pivotal role in supporting the National and regional Hubs network to thrive. He/She is responsible for building and maintaining strong, engaging relationships between the network of national and regional Hubs, to build and strengthen the EU Code Week initiative and help organisations to deliver on their commitments. Core to this role are effective communication and coordination skills, to gather and disseminate key information, plan and execute engaging content for virtual calls/webinars, in-person gatherings, and other workshops. The Network Engagement Manager will act as liaison between the Hubs and the different Code4Europe Consortium members.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Manage the network of national and regional Hubs including keeping up to date the guidelines for the functioning of the Hubs and the guide for localization strategy;
- Support national and regional Hubs to:
- Develop and execute a stakeholder/community engagement plan designed to nurture relationships and build a sense of community around the EU Code Week;
- Organise Train of Trainers series to empower teachers/ambassadors to organise and deliver activities
- Launch annual grant cycles to support selected projects with significant relevance for EU Code Week
- Collect feedback by acting as a liaison between the evaluation team and the community, gathering views, suggestions, and improvement points
- Support the creation and manage an online community platform for the community to connect, share ideas, and collaborate on initiatives including a repository of good practices
- Create a map of impactful initiatives
- Create and keep up to date the roadmap of national/regional events
- Organise and manage virtual workshops and webinars for Hub leads on topics of relevance
- Identify opportunities for greater partnerships and collaborations that amplify EU Code Week’s impact.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A University degree;
- Minimum 5 years work experience in a network engagement role;
- Exceptional organisational and planning skills with the ability to coordinate information and processes involving multiple people/teams;
- Ability to manage a complex and, at times, heavy workload, to multi-task and take initiative;
- Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels within the organisation, listen to and influence others;
- Common sense approach, with a positive attitude and the ability to adapt to an evolving working environment;
- Excellent English skills, both written and verbal;
- Experience of writing for different audiences and purposes and presenting information clearly;
- Experience in the preparation of guidelines and handouts;
- Experience in training as a trainer;
- Cross-cultural sensitivity and appreciation;
- Pro-active, self-motivated and result oriented, takes initiative and has the ability to solve problems independently;
- Experience using MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications.
