Job Summary:
The New Business Development Manager will support JA Europe’s Development Team whose function is to fundraise money for JA Europe and the network of 42 Junior Achievement (JA) organizations. Historically, fundraising at JA has been heavily focused on corporations. JA is in the process of working to develop and expand its funding base focusing more on individual giving and unrestricted funding.
The New Business Development Manager plays a key role in leading and growing our annual fundraising goal, especially in terms of new funding from donors, individuals and unrestricted funding. We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who is excited to join a hard-working, mission-driven team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and secure unrestricted funding sources to support JA Europe’s mission and operations.
- Lead the prospecting, establishment, and development of new partnerships with corporate donors.
- Play a significant role in contributing to JA Europe’s overall fundraising goals and help raise funding for network partners.
- Craft and write compelling proposals for private and individuals
- Manage a robust portfolio of individual donors by creating and executing strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Experience: At least 5 years of proven track record in fundraising or sales experience
- Lead Generation and Prospecting: Expertise in identifying and pursuing new funding opportunities, including corporate partnerships, grants, and individual donor
- Market Research and Analysis: Skills in conducting market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential funding sources.
- Sales skills: strong sales skills and ability to create and implement effective sales strategies
- Pitching and Presentation: Proficiency in crafting compelling pitches and presentations to effectively communicate JA’s value proposition and secure funding. Ability to effectively communicate the organisation’s mission, values, and impact to donors and funding partners.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build rapport and trust with diverse stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and board members.
- Communication: Strong, compelling, and persuasive writing skills.
- Technical Skills: Experience with donor management software or CRM systems for tracking interactions, managing workflows, and analyzing donor data. Social media savvy.
- Proposal Writing: Well-honed research techniques and ability to craft compelling proposals for private and public sector support.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English (oral and written) with proficiency in at least one other European language.
- Professionalism: Demonstrated poise, tact, integrity, and professionalism.
- Adaptability: Ability to embrace a dynamic work environment and perform under pressure. Proactive attitude and high level of personal commitment to duties, timelines, and deadlines.
- Sector Knowledge: Interest in education, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, youth employment, and key trends in international development. Knowledge of the education sector or JA operations is a plus.
- Team Player: Eagerness to learn and a willingness to “roll up one’s sleeves” and do what is needed to get the job done.
