Welcome to the website of JA Europe. You can access the site without registering, JA wants you to make the best decisions about the information that you share with us. This Privacy Statement describes the privacy practices of JA about users of jaeurope.org.

JA Europe’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. To achieve this we rely on the invaluable contribution of variety of people, including you, and we process your personal information in the course of our activities. Your privacy is important to us and below you can learn more about the personal information we collect and what we do with it.

Information and Uses

In this section we provide details regarding the categories of personal data we process. We use personal data and personal information interchangeably. When we use these terms we refer to any information that can identify a person or relates to an already identified person. We have presented the information in a table below

We process this information to reply to any queries. We do so based on your consent, expressed by contacting us. 

We process such information also to improve our communication and marketing activities. We do so for legitimate interest. 

We will store this information for up to 1 year on our devices and networks or until you withdraw your consent. Where the information is shared through a social media channel the decision when to remove it lies with you. 

Contract Parties 

If we enter into any kind of a contract or agreement we will process any information included in it. 

We will process the personal data on a contractual need basis 

We store this data for up to 5 years after the contract termination. 

Job Applicants 

The personal data you provided in your application such as  

  • experience, 
  • qualifications, 
  • desired compensation, etc. 

We might also process publicly available information about you and any referrals we receive from referees you appointed. 

During the interview process we might process additional information about your character traits, work-related preferences and whether your application match our needs. 

We will process your application on a contractual basis. We might collect further information from your publicly available social media accounts and referrals on a legitimate interest basis. 

We will retain the information for up to 7 months from deciding on your application, the withdrawal of your application or for the duration of your employment contract with us. 

We will keep your 

information for longer than that or share it with someone outside of a legal dispute, only if you explicitly consent to that. 

Partners, Volunteers, Board Directors, Project Participants 

In addition to your contact details we may also process some information about your  

  • dietary preferences, 
  • medical conditions, 
  • qualifications, 
  • ethnicity  
  • need of special assistance. 

We strive to ensure pleasant and safe conditions for all our activities and we process this personal data on the basis of your consent. If you are below the age of 13 years, we will process your personal information only if consent is given by your legal representative. 

We retain this information for the duration of our partnership/ project 

/your tenure, or until you withdraw your 

consent; whichever comes first. 

Subscribers 

  • Name, 
  • email address,  
  • date and time of last consent for subscription. 

We will be happy to share with you insights regarding our activities, but we will do so, only if you give us your consent. If you are below the age of 13 years we will process your personal information only if a consent is given by your legal representative. 

We retain this information until you withdraw your consent.

We process this information to administer our finances and to adhere to our legal obligations. 

We store any financial information for the necessary retention periods under the Belgian tax, accounting and anti-money laundering legislation. 

 

Sensitive information includes a number of types of data relating to: race or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or other similar beliefs, trade union membership, physical or mental health, sexual life or criminal record, or genetic or biometric data. If you provide such information, JA Europe accepts your explicit consent to use that data in the ways described in this Privacy Statement or in the ways described at the point where such information is disclosed. 

We might need to process any of the mentioned information for longer, should a legal requirement for that arises or a legal dispute necessitates it. 

How We Share & Transfer Information 

We do not sell Personal Information to third parties to allow them to market their products and services to you. On the basis of our legitimate interests we might share some of your personal data with various partners, divisions, affiliated organisations and trusted third parties who assist us in conducting our operations. Some of the organisations we share data with might be out of the EU. In such cases we use Standard Contractual Clauses as a safeguard that your personal data will be processed lawfully and will be kept confidential. 

We may also disclose your information when we are required by law or to protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety. 

Apart from the above-mentioned cases we will disclose or transfer internationally your personal information only if you give us your prior consent for this.

Right to access: you have the right to obtain confirmation that your personal data are processed and to obtain a copy of it as well as certain information related to its processing; 

Right to rectify: you can request the rectification of your personal data which are inaccurate, and also add to it. 

Right to delete: you can, in some cases, have your personal data deleted; Right to object: you can object, for reasons relating to your situation, to the processing of your personal data. For instance, you have the right to object where we rely on legitimate interest; 

Right to restrict processing: You have the right, in certain cases, to temporarily restrict the processing of your personal data by us, provided there are valid grounds for doing so. We may continue to process your personal data if it is necessary for the defense of legal claims, or for any other exceptions permitted by applicable law;
